The first of the number one seeds to take the court in this year’s NCAA tournament was Darron Hilliard and the Villanova Wildcats, as they took on 16th seed Louisiana-Lafayette in the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, PA. Villanova easily proved their worthiness of their one-seed in the East region, accomplishing what a majority of the other high seeds have been unable to. Easily demolishing their double-digit seeded foe.

Villanova wrecked Lafayette by 41 points in a 93-52 victory. Nova attacked their Bay Area opponent with an extremely efficient scoring output, with six players scoring in double figures. Led by junior guard Dylan Ennis with 16 points, and was followed by Daniel Ochefu with 14, Ryan Arcidiacono with 13, Darrun Hilliard and JayVaughn Pinkston with 12, and Kris Jenkins with 10. The Wildcats efficiency also led to them shooting the lights out from the field, converting 36-57 field goals for an incredible 63.7%. They also shot 11-22 from beyond the arc, while turning the ball over just eight times.

Villanova will play the eight seed North Carolina State Wolfpack in the Round of 32. NC State has proven to cause trouble to high level teams, as they defeated both the Duke Blue Devils and the North Carolina Tar Heels in Chapel Hill this season.
