Even though its January, it’s time to Fear Ameer yet again! Former Nebraska running back Ameer Abdullah shined in the Reese’s Senior bowl, being crowned the MVP.

The Nebraska Star tallied 73 rushing yards on seven attempts and four receptions for 40 yards. Abdullah’s team, The North, dominated the South 34-13. The North’s running attack also included Minnesota’s David Cobb and Yale’s Tyler Varga. This game was watched heavily by scouts and boosted Abdullah’s draft stock ever higher.

Abdullah came off of his best year in college, racking up 1,611 rushing yards and a very impressive 19 touchdowns. He was in the running for the Heisman for a while, but a sprained MCL ended his chances, though he missed only one game.

Abdullah also set the career All-Purpose Yards record at Nebraska. He topped Nebraska legends Mike Rozier and Johnny Rodgers, both Heisman winners, in that category. He also paved his way to a high draft pick and is an athlete that can soon be a future NFL star.

During the Senior Bowl, Abdullah was considered a late second to early third round pick. However, I respectfully disagree. I believe Abdullah should be ranked a second round pick. He is a good kid with a lot of potential, and acts with class. He won the 2014 Class Award and is mentally ready for the NFL.

Another concern which hurts his draft stock is his height. Abdullah stands at 5’9, and weighs 195 lbs. However, NFL Draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah says that Abdullah “is short but is not small” and that “He’s a very well-rounded back”. When asked about his height, Abdullah said, “It helps me get through tough creases, it benefits me”.

Abdullah is a great athlete with many strengths, and his Senior Bowl MVP adds to his extraordinary portfolio for NFL scouts.
