After a long contract holdout, Seattle Seahawks have locked up a big part of their defense in Bobby Wagner, re-signing him to a four-year, $43 million dollar deal. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, $22 million will be guaranteed. The team is coming off a tough Super Bowl loss to the New England Patriots.

Wagner played a big part last season, recording 104 tackles and two sacks. Numbers like that make Wagner a great linebacker for the Seahawks. He helped the team have an outstanding season, as Seattle would earn the top seed in the NFC.

Wagner is a great, hard-hitting middle linebacker with great speed and vision. He is known more as a run-stuffer, but could get to the quarterback if needed.

There were reports that the team and Wagner were not going to get a contract done, but it seems the two sides came to an agreement. Locking up Wagner long-term is a smart move; the team needs to keep arguably the league’s most talented defense together. With Wagner, 24, still being young, he still has yet to reach his maximum potential.

Now that Wagner has gotten his new deal, he has to prove season after season that he is worth it. He will be relied on to accumulate 100+ tackles every season as well as perform like one of the biggest run-stuffers in the NFL.
