The effect around the National Football League (NFL), is still in awe regarding the LeSean McCoy and Kiko Alonso trade. If you have not heard by now the Buffalo Bills will send linebacker Kiko Alonso in exchange for Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy.

So where does running back, CJ Spiller, fit into this scheme? As a matter of fact, Spiller no longer fits in Buffalo’s scheme. Spiller has made it clear that he will not be returning to Buffalo for the upcoming 2015 season.

Following this proclamation from Spiller, we learned quickly that the Bills have released Spiller, thus thrusting him into the free agency market set to open March 10th. Spiller jokingly, or perhaps not, mentioned on NFL Network that, “Chip [Kelly] has my agent’s phone number.”

What does the future hold for the elusive, yet injury prone, running back? Potential landing spots include, but are not limited to, the Oakland Raiders, Arizona Cardinals, Philadelphia Eagles, Indianapolis Colts, and the New York Jets.

Although reports have claimed that the Jets are not interested in Spiller’s work, it seems as the two were made for each other, at this given time at least. Chan Gailey, offensive coordinator for the New York Jets and former Bills head coach, has provided the spark in which Spiller successfully used during his stay in Buffalo (2012 season: 207 attempts, 1,244 rushing yards, and six touchdowns). With the multiple running backs in New York, sharing the back field will be no breaking news to Spiller; who shared the backfield in Buffalo with former teammate, Fred Jackson.

As immaculate as this situation may be represented, the saying goes as, “The ball is in your court Mr. Spiller.”
