The Chicago Bulls have set their sights on a championship, as they are discussing a trade with Minnesota to acquire Kevin love.

The Bulls recently amnestied Carlos Boozer, gaining $16.8 million dollars to use towards the salary cap. They signed Pau Gasol during the free agency period, but there is still extra money left over from Boozer as well as expiring contracts from last year. They have gone all in on Love with the hopes of a championship in the upcoming years.

Sources believe that the Timberwolves are interested in centering the deal around forward Jimmy Butler and big man Taj Gibson, with some draft picks possibly being included. Joakim Noah has also been brought up in the discussions, but it remains unlikely he will end up in a Minnesota uniform.

The Golden State Warriors and Cavaliers are the other two teams that have been in discussion to receive Love. However, the Warriors are becoming a less likely threat due to their reluctance to add shooting guard Klay Thompson in the deal.

As for the Cavaliers, the team recently signed first overall pick Andrew Wiggins to a two-year rookie deal. According to NBA regulations, Wiggins may not be traded until 30 days after the signing is complete. Anthony Bennet, Wiggins and a first round pick have also been offered to the Timberwolves, but the deal is not what Minnesota is currently looking for in return for Love.

Though it is in Minnesota’s best interest to keep Love on the roster, the power forward has already stated he would rather be traded than kept for the upcoming year. He is a free agent next year if he declines his player option. If the Timberwolves let him walk next year, they will miss out on the opportunity of acquiring many players who have a lot of potential.
