The Dallas Cowboys will be without their top receiver Dez Bryant for a few weeks, as he will have surgery on a broken fifth metatarsal in his right foot. His timetable is 4-6 weeks.

The injury occurred on Sunday night, when Bryant left the game early and went straight to the locker room.

Bryant previously went to the locker room earlier in the game due to dehydration. As a result, he was given an IV.

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said this about his injury:

“We want to be careful about making the entire judgment on it, but Dez did break a bone,” Garrett said. “We anticipate him having surgery. The initial diagnosis is he’ll be out 4-6 weeks.”

Bryant left the game with five catches and 48 yards, but the Cowboys still managed to win the game on a last minute touchdown by Jason Witten.

Moments after Bryant was sidelined, backup receiver Devin Street came into the game and bobbled a pass thrown by Tony Romo, resulting in a Trumaine McBride interception.

With Bryant out, several other players will emerge into the passing game.

Terrance Williams and Jason Witten received a lot of attention when Brynt was out and Cole Beasley also got his share of receptions.

Romo will most likely use those three and third down running back Lance Dunbar hauled in 70 yards.

Bryant’s injury is a huge setback for the Cowboys, but they are still a talented team who can compete in the weeks he is out.
