The NFL has notified Dallas Cowboys’ defensive end Greg hardy that he will be suspended without pay for the first 10 games of the NFL’s regular season. NFL fans, but mostly Dallas fans in particular were waiting for the NFL to publicize Hardy’s punishment for his involvement in a domestic violence case back in 2014.

This offseason the Cowboys made an attempt to fortify their defensive line by signing Hardy to an incentive based contract. Of course, at the time of signing the Cowboys knew how risky Hardy was, which is why they added so many playing time based incentives in his contract. This leaves the Cowboys feeling upset that they can’t have their impact player on the field for 10 games, but also happy knowing that their money is not being wasted. When he does return though, you can expect pro bowl caliber play from the athletic freak that is Greg Hardy.

For those of you who don’t know, Hardy was found guilty of assaulting a female and communicating threats. Hardy appealed the verdict and was set to appeal in court earlier this year. However, the woman (Nicole Holder) that claimed to have been assaulted by Hardy failed to show up, so Hardy’s case was dropped.

The fact that Hardy’s case was dropped led many to believe that he wouldn’t be punished by the NFL, or that his punishment wouldn’t be severe. However, in a letter written by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, it was made clear that after the NFL’s two month investigation they were left with no other choice but to suspend Hardy for 10 games. It seems that although Hardy’s case was dropped, the NFL’s private investigation turned up enough evidence to accuse him of violating the NFL’s conduct policy. Hardy will have the opportunity to appeal the suspension within the next three days if he chooses to do so.
