Justise Winslow Declares For NBA Draft

Justise Winslow has announced that he will forgo the rest of his college career and enter the 2015 National Basketball Association (NBA) Draft, according to multiple sources.

The freshman had a solid year at Duke, averaging 12.6 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. Winslow had a great March Madness campaign as well, putting up a near double-double (16 points and nine rebounds). His play in the tournament led to his skyrocketed value; now projected as a top five pick in the draft, as he was one of the many contributors to the team’s fifth National Championship.

The small forward will join Jahlil Okafor as the other Duke freshman entering the NBA Draft at this time. It is also believed guard Tyus Jones will follow, emphasizing the ‘one-and-done’ system that has become very prevalent in college basketball today.

The 6’7″ forward is a terrific athlete, known for his physical presence down low as well as around the perimeter. Winslow provides a huge threat on offense, as he can drive and take defenders to the hoop, but at the same time, step back and shoot the three ball (41.8 percent) if given the opportunity. He follows up on his shots, leading to offensive rebounds and is known for his ability to score in transition. Winslow has shown the capabilities to be an elite defender, playing tight defense, leading to his opponents struggling to make any impact. While at Duke, he had 1.3 steals and 0.9 blocks.

In many mock drafts, Winslow is taken at fifth overall, currently held by the Orlando Magic. The Magic are a very athletic team with the likes of Victor Oladipo and Elfrid Payton, among others. Adding Winslow, who has an incredible  high ceiling, will improve this team, making them a menace on defense and solid on offense.
