Toronto boasts a 52-51 record and remains six games behind the American League East-leading New York Yankees and two games out from a Wild Card spot. The team has decided to take an ‘all-in’ approach, trading top prospects to solidify their offense, rotation and bullpen. Revere will join Troy Tulowitzki, David Price, and Mark Lowe as the trade deadline acquisitions.
Revere has the speed to play center field, but has been the Phillies’ starting left fielder to date. He will likely become the team’s newest left fielder with Chris Colabello transitioning to first base. Colabello is batting .312 with nine home runs and 13 doubles through 65 games. He will likely replace now-starting first baseman Justin Smoak, who is batting .235 with nine home runs.
The 27-year-old outfielder is a contact hitter that is a huge threat when on base. He is batting .298 with 24 stolen bases through 96 games. The Blue Jays will now be in control of Revere through 2017, as his contract comes with two years of arbitration.
