BYU QB Taysom Hill Done for Season

While BYU’s football team was celebrating their 33-28 victory over Nebraska, they soon learned that their star quarterback, Taysom Hill, will not play again this season.

Hill suffered a lisfranc fracture while planting his right foot on a 21-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. He returned to the game in the fourth quarter after having his foot taped up, but was hit on an eight yard scramble and was done for good.

This is awful news for both BYU and the entire NCAA, as Hill was a Heisman candidate entering this season. In Hill’s only season where he was fully healthy (2013), he was responsible for 4,282 total yards and 29 total touchdowns.

In 2012 and 2014, Hill’s seasons were cut short by injury.

In the meantime, BYU will have to rely on Tanner Mangum as their starting quarterback. Mangum led BYU to victory, as he drove their offense down the field and completed a Hail Mary touchdown pass to Mitch Mathews to end the game.

While Mangum may turn out to be a solid quarterback for BYU, it hurts to lose a player of Hill’s caliber, especially in the first game of the season.
