Year after year, fans witness a troubled man battling season ending injuries and returning with triumph. The Chicago Bulls have confirmed that starting point guard Derrick Rose has a torn meniscus and will undergo yet another surgery.

After complaining of pain in his knee, the cautious Bulls underwent tests to make sure their born again superstar would be able to return to action as soon as possible.

Rose cannot catch a break, as his season will likely be cut short once again. He tore his ACL in the playoffs of the 2011-12 season. Rehabbing back to full health, he missed the following year before returning to action in 2014. However, his season was cut short for a second time, tearing his meniscus in November. Yet another successful surgery and over a year later, Rose has torn his meniscus (yet again), and will undergo surgery, missing the rest of the season.

Rose has missed 192 games over the past four seasons and will likely miss the team’s remaining 25 games.

Averaging 18 points, five assists and three rebounds per game, Rose finally began to return to his former All-Star form. The Bulls are 36-21, ranked third in the Eastern Conference. It will be interesting how the Bulls finish the season alongside breakout sensation Jimmy Butler and the re-emergence of Pau Gasol.

The Bulls will rely on Aaron Brooks and Kirk Hinrich to fill in the huge gap left by Rose. This team may no longer be a title contender, but still are a threat and sure-fire playoff team.

The ISN staff wishes DRose a full and speedy recovery!
