Ed Reed is ready to hang up the cleats to a terrific 12 year career. Reed had an outstanding career, mainly playing for the Baltimore Ravens. Reed has set numerous records, including most career interception return yards (1,590), longest interception return (108), and is tied for most postseason interceptions (9).

The All-Pro safety was selected to the Pro Bowl 9 times, and was the 2004 NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

Reed will end his career with 643 tackles, 64 interceptions, and 13 touchdowns.

Reed was drafted out of Miami (FL) back in 2002, in which he was drafted 24th overall, to the Baltimore Ravens. Reed was a Ravens for ten years, and became a household name in Baltimore, while the Ravens steadily built a terrifying defense. The Ravens had one of the most deadly tandems the game has seen, as Ed Reed and Ray Lewis took the league by storm. The duo gained some extra help from Terrell Suggs and Haloti Ngata, who helped them lead the defense, and the Ravens, to a Super Bowl XLVII victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

After the Ravens era, Reed signed a 3 year, $15 million contract with the Houston Texans. He only played 7 games with the team before being cut. Later that season, Reed signed with the New York Jets, and like the Texans, only played 7 games with the team before becoming a free agent once more. However, that turned out to be his last job playing in the NFL.

Reed will have his retirement press conference at the Ravens training Complex, which willl take place at 2PM Eastern, and can be streamed here.

Reed is a shoe in Hall of Famer, and will go down as one of the greatest safeties, and players of all time.
