After a nine month battle with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, the Kansas City Chiefs announced today that safety Eric Berry has been cleared to play. He will be active in the team’s first preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals. It was only 15 days ago that the Chiefs announced that Berry was cleared to take part in practice.

Berry was a big part of the team’s defense last season, recording 37 tackles in six games before being diagnosed with cancer which ultimately ended his season.

There is a reason why Berry is one of the best safeties in the league. He is very fast and has good awareness during plays. He is also a good leader in the locker room and is one many young players look up to.

Kansas City will be getting one of the best safeties back, even if it is preseason. Berry was not expected to come back this quickly; reports were buzzing about him potentially missing the upcoming season.
