Fantasy Football: Late Round Sleepers

It’s Fantasy Football Season and I am sure many people are looking for sleepers to scoop up late in the draft or even waivers. I have a couple in mind that could be this year’s Julius Thomas or better.

Travis Kelce – TE – Kansas City Chiefs: Kelce missed last season with a torn ACL and this will be his first official NFL season. Kelce stunned many in the preseason with two touchdowns and 185 receiving yards. Kelce reminds me a lot of Saints tight end Jimmy Graham. He is 6’6 and fast. He is listed as the second string tight end, but has been taking many reps with the first team during Training Camp. Kelce is a great guy to take late in your draft because of his upside.

Kenny Britt – WR – St.Louis Rams: Britt has had his good moments in the NFL but has fallen off track recently because of injury and off-field troubles. Britt, now with the Rams, should be the main guy, even with Tavon Austin on the roster. Britt looked like a star a couple of years ago before tearing his ACL and MCL. He is listed as the number one receiver on the Rams’ depth chart. Quarterback Sam Bradford’s absence may affect him a little bit, but I still believe Britt has potential to be a solid WR for your squad.

Jeremy Hill – RB – Cincinnati Bengals: Hill will be entering his first year in the league. He has shown flashes of a stardom during the preseason and is a solid late round pick. Hill is 6’2″ with a great combination of speed and power. The Bengals are expected to split carries between Hill and starter Giovani Bernard. Now that the Bengals released Benjarvus Green-Ellis, Hill is the backup to Bernard and could be solid in the upcoming year.

Quincy Enunwa – WR – New York Jets: This is a much deeper sleeper as he is entering his first year in the NFL. He was drafted in the sixth round by the New York Jets out of Nebraska. Enunwa has the talent to be a fantasy stud. However, it is unsure how much playing time he will find. I was able to go to the Jets Training camp for a couple of days and Enunwa looked great. He outperformed most receivers and proved he is worthy of a roster spot. Although he did not get any firstteam reps, he has a tremendous upside. Playing time could weigh down on his fantasy performance.

Blake Bortles – QB – Jacksonville Jaguars: This one is a little bigger of a name than the rest. Bortles was selected third overall by the Jaguars in the 2014 NFL Draft. He will not be the week one starter though. However, I believe that by the end of the season, he will be the starter. Bortles has made it a very hard decision for the Jaguars to pick their starting quarterback. He has thrown for the most yards and has the highest passer rating of all of the Jacksonville quarterbacks during the preseason. Bortles has looked fantastic and based on his reputation, I think he will be a great fantasy option.
