Jaromír Jágr Heading To Florida

The Florida Panthers are a team on the rise. They proved that this season with a young core and elite goalie in Roberto Luongo. They are two points back from the Boston Bruins for the eighth and final spot in an easy Eastern Conference. Their chances to make the playoffs have gotten even stronger as they acquired Jaromír Jágr from the New Jersey Devils for a second and third round draft pick.

This season for the New Jersey Devils, Jagr has scored 11 goals and 18 assists for 29 points. He has struggled while on the ice, as his +- is minus 10. Arguably one of the best hockey players that has ever played the game is in his 20^th season. Jagr is a good goal scoring forward who you can put him on your second line. Even though he is past his prime he can still make a positive impact on his team.

This is a good trade for Florida. They get a good veteran elite goal scorer in Jagr who will be effective on the Panthers second line and maybe even get chances at the first line. Either way he is going to help the Panthers in a very tight playoff race. He will be a great mentor to a team that is filled with many young players. So in my opinion, Florida wins this trade.

New Jersey had no choice to trade Jagr. They would have loved to keep Jagr but he was not happy in New Jersey. They traded him and got a good deal back in return. The draft picks are good value for Jagr considering it does not look like New Jersey is going to make the playoffs.
