In more Philadelphia Eagles news, wide receiver Jeremy Maclin plans to reunite with Andy Reid in Kansas City when free agency begins, according to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen. Maclin, coming off of an ACL injury in 2013, had 85 receptions, 1,318 recieving yards, and ten touchdowns, all career highs, or tying a career high.

Maclin was, and is, going to be a hot-name throughout the free agency period in the National Football League (NFL). Prior to last season, Maclin was set to become a free agent after 2013. Soon enough, Maclin resigned with the Eagles for a one-year deal, also known as a pillow contract, to redeem his value going into the 2014 season. This certainly proved worthy as Maclin is expected to cash in with whomever he pleases.

The addition of Maclin to the Kansas City Chiefs is well needed. The Chiefs were unfortunate enough to not have a wide receiver catch a touchdown in the 2014 season. The Chiefs will need to create cap space in order to sign Maclin; the expected move, at this time, is to deal with Dwayne Bowe’s contract. The plan is to release Bowe, thus letting him hit the open market on March 10.

In addition to the vast variety of moves the Philadelphia had made, this move may have been more crucial rather than the other various signings, such as Byron Maxwell and Frank Gore. The Eagles certainly are lacking at the wide receiver position; Riley Cooper and/or Jordan Matthews will step into the first-string role, for now, until the Eagles make any other moves pertaining to the wide receiver position.

Will the Eagles address their issue via. free agency or the draft? Instead of trading up for quarterback Marcus Mariota, will the Eagles seek their odds on potential receivers such as Amari Cooper, Kevin White, or DeVante Parker?

Coach Reid is more than likely content with the addition of Maclin. If one of the receivers have the odds of catching a touchdown pass from Alex Smith, I’d put my money on Jeremy Maclin.
