Sacramento Kings current head coach Tyrone Corbin confirmed on Monday night that his Interim tag was lifted and will be the head coach for the rest of the season.  It is not clear when the Kings front office decided to lift the tag but it was strange timing to have Corbin confirm it during a media interview after a loss to the Brooklyn Nets.

“You need to hear it – it’s done,” Corbin said. “But as I said when I took over, we’re here together until something changes.”

Owner Vivek Ranadive and GM Pete D’Alessandro seem to keeping things secret as of late and have Sacramento fans worried and questioning the plan and the future of the organization. The Kings went from a 9-5 start to 11-13 which resulted in coach Mike Malone’s firing.

Since the firing the Kings are just 2-6 with Corbin and have not held an opponent under 100 points in that stretch; it seems that this firing have possibly backfired because the team is not responding well at all.  Star Demarcus Cousins admitted that he wasn’t told beforehand about Malone’s firing and he had to find out via Twitter. The decision to keep Corbin for the rest of the season wasn’t discussed either.

“I didn’t know,” Cousins said. “I didn’t know officially until (Monday) night, either. That’s when a lot of us found out.”

The Sacramento Kings seemed like a franchise on the rise with a promising future earlier this season, but now it looks like the same Sacramento Kings we’ve seen for almost the past ten years. Right now this franchise and its fans should be very concerned about where this team is heading, even if the season is lost, the Chicago Bulls own their first round pick that is top-ten protected.
