Reports surfaced Wednesday evening from 93.7 The Fan radio host Colin Dunlap Steelers running backs Le’Veon Bell and LeGarrette Blount were arrested in Ross Township Thursday for marijuana possession. Bell was charged with DUI as well.
Bell and Blount comprise of approximately 100 percent of the Steelers’ game-experienced running backs. The Steelers did nothing in the offseason to replenish any further lack of depth that was partially filled by Blount.
Blount signed a free agent deal with the Steelers after spending last season in New England. Bell, in 13 games, broke the Steelers’ rookie record for yards from scrimmage.
The two, dubbed “Le’Backfield,” were expected to handle a huge bulk of a revamped Steelers’ running game.
Needless to say, these charges puts their season opener in doubt.
