In Max Scherzer’s last start, he lost a perfect game in the 7th inning against the Milwaukee Brewers after a broken-bat single by Carlos Gomez.

Today against the Pittsburgh Pirates, Scherzer lost a perfect game on a 2-2 count with two outs in the 9th, hitting pinch-hitter Jose Tabata with a pitch.

The good news for Scherzer, was that the no-hitter was still in tact. The next batter, Josh Harrison, flew out to left field, completing Max Scherzer’s no-hitter.

This is the first no-hitter for the Nationals since Jordan Zimmermann’s against the Miami Marlins in the Nationals’  final game of the 2014 season.

This is also the second no-hitter of the 2015 season, as the first was Chris Heston’s gem against the New York Mets.

In the last two games that Scherzer has pitched, he has retired 54 of the 57 batters and has racked up 26 strikeouts.

Other notes from the Nationals’ 6-0 win against the Pirates: Bryce Harper returned to the lineup and looked like he was 100 percent today, as he went 2-for-4 with a home run.

Third baseman Anthony Rendon got it done with the bat and glove for the Nationals, as he hit an RBI double and made several great plays in the field.

Max Scherzer has added yet another impressive game to an already impressive 2015 season.
