The Seattle Seahawks have traded wide receiver Percy Harvin to the New York Jets for a conditional draft pick.

Harvin, a six-year veteran of the NFL, will be headed towards his third team. He started with the Minnesota Vikings before being traded to the Seahawks. Now, he is a New York Jet. The Seahawks have said that he was becoming a big distraction in the locker room and that the players would rather play without him. Harvin had signed a six-year, $67 million deal with $25.5 million guaranteed in March 2013. The struggling Jets will have to pick up his current contract. however, at the end of the season, they can drop him and not owe the wide out a penny.

Harvin will begin his tenure with the Jets next week against the Buffalo Bills. The Seahawks clear up some cap room with this exchange.

They have also released a report stating that Harvin and former Seahawk Golden Tate got into a scuffle resulting in Tate getting a black eye. This incident occurred shortly before the Seahawks rolled past the Broncos in Super Bowl. Harvin has been pretty consistent when playing for the Seahawks while he is healthy. He has dealt with many nagging injuries, but the Seahawks were able to still dominate without him.

A report has come out saying that Harvin was dividing the Seahawks locker room, turning them against quarterback, Russell Wilson. An unnamed Seahawks player has said that Harvin was creating a division in the locker room between ‘Wilson and Anti-Wilson’ groups.

Now as Percy will become a member of the Jets, who are in the middle of a quarterback competition between Geno Smith and Michael Vick, we have to wonder if he will take a side and cause even more controversy in the Jets locker room.

On the first day of practice with the Jets, Head Coach Rex Ryan said that him and his players were surprised to see Harvin’s willingness to get into his new teammates faces and call them out. Ryan has reportedly warned his team that Harvin will be fired up this Sunday and that he will be very intense. Ryan has also said that he is strongly considering Harvin as being their punt returner. If he does become their punt returner, he will replace rookie Walter Powell.

The Jets aren’t taking too much of a risk here and getting Percy Harvin could be a very big threat to other teams and a huge addition for the New York Jets
