The Indianapolis Colts and wideout Reggie Wayne will not reunite for the upcoming 2015 season. This is an end of an era for the Colts as they move on from Wayne’s incredible stay.

Wayne was drafted into the Colts organization through the 2001 draft; going 30th overall in the first round from Miami University. Throughout his career, Wayne totaled 1,070 receptions, 14,345 receiving yards, and 82 touchdowns.

There were questions as to when Wayne would move on, and, or, perhaps retire.  The initial time when many questioned if Wayne was going to move on from the Colts organization was when Peyton Manning had exited, taking his talents to the Denver Broncos.  Former Colt, Pierre Garçon, departed in the same season Manning had, leaving uncertainty at the wide receiver position. Wayne, as noted now, had stayed and continued his career in Indianapolis, aiding quarterback Andrew Luck’s legacy. Wayne, in an interview in 2012 with USA TODAY Sports, claimed, “That’s another reason why I’m glad I stayed, to help him create his own legacy. He’s going to have to win some games, win some rings, before he can completely get out of Peyton’s shadow.” Talk about a class act.

As much as this hurts the Colts to make this decision, the National Football League (NFL), is a business. Wayne, coming off an ACL injury in 2013, who did ponder retirement following this season, had 64 receptions, 779 receiving yards, and 2 touchdowns. Fellow, and now former teammate, wide receiver T.Y Hilton tweeted his emotions via. Twitter.

Whether Wayne intends to continue his career or not, his legacy with the Indianapolis Colts will remain intact and everlasting.
