Iowa State coach Fred Hoiberg will likely become to newest Chicago Bulls head coach, according to the Chicago Sun-Time. He will reportedly be introduced as early as this week and is expected to sign a five-year, $25 million dollar deal.

The Bulls fired Tom Thibodeau last Thursday, after the team was eliminated from the playoffs by LeBron James’ Cavaliers.

Hoiberg was a great coach at Iowa State, as his career record was 115-56. His NCAA Tournament record was 4-4. He led the Cyclones to the tournament this year, but were upset by UAB in the round of 64.

Hoiberg isn’t new to the NBA scene as he played professionally for ten seasons. He played with the Indiana Pacers, the Minnesota Timberwolves, and a four-year tenure with the Bulls.

It was reported by CBS Sports, that Iowa State has already begun preparing for the departure of Hoiberg.

Hoiberg also has a close relationship with Bulls GM Gar Forman. Shortly after Thibodeau was fired, Forman released this statement:

“We’ll be looking for someone who’s a leader, who has great communication skills, who’s got an excellent knowledge of the game of basketball, someone that’s an open and creative learner,”

Hoiberg is a leader and is certainly capable to fill in for Thibodeau, who left the Bulls with a remarkable record of 255-139 and five playoff appearances.

Though Hoiberg has some big shoes to fill, but he is an ideal fit for the Chicago Bulls.
