Metta World Peace, formally known as Ron Artest, is reportedly in consideration to change his name once again. In the fall of 2011, Artest legally changed his name to Metta World Peace, which was kinda ironic. Now that the 15-year NBA veteran is set to play in China for the Sichuan Blue Whales of the Chinese Basketball Association, he is considering another name change.

Though we do not know if this change will again be legally binding, World Peace had been giving hints on his twitter account of a new Chinese name. Then later stating that his new Chinese name is not ‘Panda Friend’, but ‘The Panda Friend’.

This is not really a surprise for people that know World Peace’s history. He is the player that is better known for going into the stands during a game and punching a fan. Also, he was a history of stating wild things on social media; he is a wild and compulsive person.

Whether this story holds any merit and he is actually going through with legally changing his name to The Panda Friend, he should surely be a fan favorite in China. This may be a little ploy to get some more attention from fans as he is leaving the NBA to go to the smaller market in China.

Even if he doesn’t go through with this crazy idea it certainly is a story to write about in a summer where almost all the new is about the Cleveland Cavaliers.
