Cue the Skylar Grey music, he’s coming home! The New York Jets have agreed to sign cornerback Darrelle Revis. The contract is reportedly over a five-year span, as Revis will rack in $70 million dollars per year. He will receive $39 million guaranteed, according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.

Revis narrowed down his decision between two teams. The Jets, where he began his career. Or the New England Patriots, where he helped bring home a Super Bowl.

While in New England, Revis had 47 tackles and two interceptions. He is one of the major factors that affected the team’s domination that eventually led to a Super Bowl victory. Revis has been one of, if not the best cornerback in the NFL dating back to his debut with the Jets.

Revis is a shut down cornerback. He changes how an offense plays against his respective team, as quarterbacks are hesitant and often decide not to throw in his direction. Whether it was in New York, New England, or Tampa Bay, he was a pivotal factor to the team’s success on defense.

During his six-year career in New York, Revis played 79 games, accumulating 294 tackles and 19 interceptions. He was apart of the New York team that advanced to the AFC Championship twice, only to experience two heartbreaking losses.

He will look to bring a Super Bowl to where it all started, this time lining up with recently signed cornerback Buster Skrine. The Jets team is very different from when he left entering the 2013 season. Though he will not have his former head coach Rex Ryan leading the helm, he will have an astounding front seven led by the Sons of Anarchy in Damon Harrison, Muhammad Wilkerson, and Sheldon Richardson.

The 29-year-old cornerback will finally make his return home and cement his legacy as a Jet and in the National Football League as a whole. ‘Revis Island’ is returning to New York!
