Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson announced that he had been diagnosed with diabetes.  The star cornerback, who does not seem to be talking about the situation on a deeper basis, claimed the situation had occurred during the season and that the team doctors have taken initiative.

Peterson later took to Twitter to reassure to his followers, and fans, that the situation is under control.

“I want to take a moment to address the media reports this morning regarding my health. While I did have abnormal sugar levels, I’ve been working with doctors on a strategic meal plan and workout routine that are reversing these symptoms. I’m grateful that this has been reversible for me and my health is back to normal. Thanks everyone for their concern and well wishes! Now back to my workouts and getting ready for the upcoming season!”

The 2014 season was certainly not a kind one for Peterson. It seemed odd to see wideouts burn the star cornerback at times. Former teammate Antonio Cromartie, now part of the New York Jets, stepped up to a higher leadership role during the 2014 season due to Peterson’s downplay. With Cromartie’s departure, and Peterson gaining his health concerns, there is a possibility the Cardinals secondary could be with some faults.

Looking forward ,and taking Peterson’s word for his health, the Cardinals should not falter from Peterson’s health, but perhaps from Cromartie’s departure. The growing concerns of the secondary may prove that the Cardinals will look to draft a defensive back in the National Football League (NFL) draft.

Last year’s Cardinals finished with an 11-5 record; the record provided the organization with their first playoff berth since 1975. The Cardinals look to provide a consistent role in the playoffs in the future years; to do so they will need their cornerbacks healthy and better than ever.
