Ravens breakout star Running Back Justin Forsett will remain in Baltimore after signing an extension on Thursday with the team. Forsett signed a three year, nine Million dollar deal with the Ravens. The Ravens knew Forsett was their top priority, and did everything they could to re-sign him. Baltimore is now set at the Running Back position, and can look to fill other holes.

Forsett ran for 1,266 yards and eight  touchdowns last season. These stats are very impressive for the nine year veteran, who is only 29 years old. With those stats, how did the Ravens get such a great deal? Obviously Terrell Suggs’s contract restructuring helped the team get the money for him, but Forsett probably could have found more money somewhere else.

Forsett said that,

I wanted to return to Baltimore all along. I wanted to oblige the many fans who stopped me around town to ask me to stay. So this deal was a no-brainer. Not just money-wise, but with regard to the situation as a whole: my role, the city, the fans. It was an easy decision.

This move by the Pro Bowler is very classy, and proves he loves the game, and the fans. After all, Forsett’s career was coming to end until the Ravens called him up to play for them. He was already obtaining internships and looking at future careers, outside of football. Getting signed by an NFL team for over a million dollars was probably out of his mind this time last year, and he has earned every penny.

The Ravens signing Forsett is very important to the Ravens, and opens up a lot for the team. Forsett gave the Ravens a discount, and is truly a team player.
