The Milwaukee Bucks have succeeded in completing their offseason checklist in a big way. They resigned shooting guard Khris Middleton and now have signed a high quality big man. The Bucks signed Greg Monroe to a three year deal worth $50 million. Monroe will bring both low post scoring and rebounding to this Bucks team that needs both so desperately. Last season with the Detroit Pistons Monroe averaged around 16 points and 10 rebounds per game.

There is reason to believe that Monroe could get even better than he is now. He is only 25 years old, so he has yet to enter his prime. He is also now in a better situation to succeed. In Detroit, Monroe and Drummond were forced to play together but both played best in the low post. This overcrowded the paint and probably hurt Monroe’s production. Now, he is going to enter his prime in a situation where he will have the low post to himself. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Monroe average 20 points per game next season. He will most likely be the featured offensive weapon on this Bucks team considering there aren’t many other options. Depending on how Jabari Parker plays when he returns, Monroe may end up being the second option. Regardless, Monroe is now in a better situation to succeed.

This addition puts the Bucks one piece closer to being a dangerous playoff team in the weak eastern conference. They are still too young to compete with the likes of the Cavs and Bulls right away, but in the future there’s no telling what this team could do. They’ve now got bonafide starters at every position, and all of them are rather talented. All in all, this was a fantastic signing for the Bucks.
