The Toronto Raptors have signed former San Antonio Spurs point guard Cory Joseph to a four-year, $30 million dollar deal. The fourth year in the deal is reportedly a player option.

Joseph had a breakout season last year as he shot 50 percent from the field and 36 percent from three. He averaged six points per game along with 2.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists.

The 23-year-old joins Kyle Lowry, Luke Ridnour and rookie Delon Wright at the point guard position. He will become the team’s sixth man, coming off the bench to relieve Lowry – similar to Greivis Vasquez’s role. He is a solid player and very efficient when on the court.

Last season, the Raptors finished the season 49-33 and finished as the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference before seeing a first round exit courtesy of the Washington Wizards. The Raptors lost Greivis Vasquez but added one veteran point guard and two young guards.

Cory Joseph stands at 6’3″ and has shown that he is able to put the ball in the rim. He will be a very solid addition for this team and will help them win some games and act as another weapon for coach Dwane Casey.
