Green Bay Packers legend Brett Favre will have his number retired by the team on Thanksgiving Night against the Chicago Bears. Favre played 16 seasons in Green Bay, retiring before returning for the New York Jets and Minnesota Vikings.

Favre holds the Packers records in almost every passing record including career touchdowns, career completions, and most consecutive games started.

Favre has also won the MVP Award three times (1995, 1996, 1997) and a Super Bowl where they beat the New England Patriots, 35-21 (SB XXXI).
The Packers have stated that they have been waiting to retire Favre’s number for a long time, and that doing it against their rival, the Chicago Bears, would be a good time to do so.

The Packers haven’t had a Thanksgiving game at home since back in 1923. They defeated the Hammond Pros 19-0.

Favre had a rough end to his tenure in Green Bay. He announced his retirement, came back, signed with the Jets, played a season there before becoming a member of the Minnesota Vikings,  a Green Bay division rival.

When the two teams squared off, Packers fans were not welcoming Favre back with open arms, as they booed him. Favre’s Vikings defeated the Packers 38-26.

Packers fans may not have been crazy about Favre while he wore a Vikings jersey, but come Thanksgiving, Packers fans will be thankful for Favre wearing that iconic No.4 on a Packers jersey.
