Le’Veon Bell’s Suspension Reduced

After being suspended three games due to a DUI and possession of marijuana in April, Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell has had his suspension reduced to two games.

Bell was arrested in August of 2014 along with former teammate LeGarrette Blount. Blount received a one game suspension as well due to a possession of marijuana charge.

Bell had a stellar 2014 campaign, racking up a total of 1,361 rushing yards, just under 500 yards short of league leader DeMarco Murray, who will suit up for the Philadelphia Eagles for the first time this season.

However, despite the large gap between Bell and Murray, Bell still finished second in the league in rushing yards as well as amassing eight touchdowns and earning himself a trip to the Pro Bowl.

The Steelers will have to play their first two contests against the New England Patriots and San Francisco 49ers without their star running back, with the former presenting a considerable challenge.

New England will look to defend their title as Superbowl Champions this season and will most certainly look to start out with a dominant win. Pittsburgh will need to bring their A-game if they wish to pick up an opening day win. However, the Patriots will be without Tom Brady, who is suspended for the first four games of the season.

After suffering one of the worst offseasons in recent memory, the San Francisco 49ers present far less of a challenge than New England. Of course, anything can happen in the NFL and it’s quite possible the 49ers will walk away with a victory, especially with Bell not suiting up for this game.

However, as a result of today’s events, Bell will be able to suit up for the Steelers’ third game against the St. Louis Rams, which promises to be an intriguing matchup if nothing else.
