The NFL has decided to uphold New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady’s four game suspension. Brady was originally suspended on May 11th for “violating the NFL policy on the integrity of the game.” Brady supposedly violated this policy after investigator Ted Wells revealed that it was “more probable than not” that Brady had something to do with Deflate Gate. The NFL has said that they are using new evidence regarding Brady destroying his cell phone back in spring 2015 as grounds for upholding the suspension.

This case is not yet over though. There is no doubt that this is going to be brought to court. The National Football League Players Association has announced that they will be bringing the NFL’s handling of Brady’s appeal into question. The NFLPA is attempting to get their case heard in Minnesota, where they have had wins before. Meanwhile, Goodell and the NFL are trying to get their case heard elsewhere so that they may have a better chance of winning. If it seems like Deflate Gate may have been blown a bit out of proportion, you’re probably right.

Now, everyone at this point should know what Deflate Gate is, but if you don’t here’s a quick explanation. After their AFC Championship game win against the Colts, the Patriots were found to have been playing with 11 footballs that were below the league’s minimum PSI threshold. Wells determined that Brady was “at least generally aware of the inappropriate activities.”

With this court being brought to court, it’s unlikely that any final decision will be reached soon. This is likely going to be a mess that will be talked about well into the NFL season. So although Brady’s four game suspension is currently still in effect, it’s entirely possible that he could play opening day.
