After nearly 20 years of boring San Antonio Spurs basketball with Tim Duncan and Gregg Poppovich winning five championships, free agency is finally starting to rotate around the Spurs.

It feels weird, but let the new era begin. Despite meeting with the Sacramento Kings to start free agency, shooting guard Danny Green has now agreed to a four year $45 million dollar deal to remain with the Spurs.

With the odds in favor of Manu Ginobili retiring, the Spurs made an excellent move making Green their franchised two guard for the foreseeable future.

Green is only 28-years-old and just finished his sixth NBA season, which was his best season by far.

He started 80 of 82 regular season games and set career highs in every statistic except field goal and three point percentage. Green is best known for his performance in the 2013 NBA Finals against the Miami Heat, where he converted an NBA Finals record 27 three pointers within their seven-game Finals loss.

Almost immediately after the news of Green was released, reports came out that the Spurs have traded French center Tiago Splitter to the Atlanta Hawks.

This is an obvious attempt to free up cap space in order to sign All-Star free agent LaMarcus Aldridge.

The trade saves San Antonio $8.5 million that Splitter is due in 2015-2016. The Hawks get some solid interior defense that is desperately needed.

If Paul Millsap decides to sign with the Orlando Magic, then Splitter would likely be his replacement in their starting rotation.
