Who are the Most Underrated Players in the MLB?

In every sport, players go unnoticed by most fans and are unappreciated for the great things that they do. With that being said, here are three of the most underrated players in the MLB:

1. Marcell Ozuna, CF, Miami Marlins

Ozuna will not impress fans with his bat or with his legs, but it is his work in the outfield that makes him undervalued. The 24 year old has one of the better arms in the outfield and can gun down most players who are willing to test him. If Ozuna was not being overshadowed by superstar Giancarlo Stanton, he would be known by most fans thanks to his outstanding arm.

2. Starling Marte, LF, Pittsburgh Pirates

Another player who is overshadowed by an MVP candidate is the Pittsburgh Pirates’ Starling Marte. Marte has had himself an outstanding start to the 2015 season. Last year, Marte hit 13 home runs in 135 games. This season, he has hit 11 home runs in only 56 games. If he was not sharing an outfield with 2013 NL MVP Andrew McCutchen, Marte would be well known as one of the better outfielders in all of the MLB.

3. Brian Dozier, 2B, Minnesota Twins

Eventually, Dozier will not be underrated. If the Minnesota Twins continue to have one of the best records in the MLB, then Dozier will finally be appreciated for his greatness. In 2014, Dozier had a 20/20 season, hitting 23 home runs and swiping 21 bases. Last season, he also had a WAR (Wins Above Replacement) of 5.2. This season, he has improved his batting average from .242 last season, to .268 this season. Dozier will likely be named an All Star in 2015, and hopefully will make the rest of the league know who he is around the nation.
