4th Place- Washington Redskins (5-11)

The Redskins are the only team in the NFC East who will actually improve from last season. Don’t get it twisted, they won’t be good, but one game better. Even though the Redskins didn’t make a ton of improvements in free agency, their in house talent will take steps forward.

On the offensive side of the ball, Robert Griffin III figures to start once again. Though he has been a major disappointment his rookie season, reports coming from Redskins’ camp seem to be giving Griffin positive reviews. He seems to be back to full health, which is in turn making him look a lot more confident. He also seems to be improving his pocket presence. Now that Griffin seems to be at the top of his game, perhaps fans will get a chance to see how good their receivers can be. DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon have lots of talent and RG3 will need to take advantage of that. Alfred Morris is no slouch either. Expect Morris to have his best season since he was rookie.

On the defensive side the Redskins are still hurting. Last year they were 19th in the NFL in passing yards allowed per game. Besides signing Chris Culliver, the Redskins didn’t do much to improve their secondary. Young cornerback Bashaud Breeland injured his knee during training camp as well. Their run defense last season was 14th in the NFL in yards allowed per game last season, which is actually above average. Now that they’ve signed Terrance Knighton they may even be in the top 10. However, the defense as a whole is still missing many pieces that it needs.

The Redskins are just missing a few solid players. Much of their talent is circumstantial and/or unknown. Alfred Morris, Pierre Garcon and Ryan Kerrigan may be the only reliable players on the team and even they have their ups and downs. The inconsistency will be too much for the Redskins to overcome this season.
