2. John Wall
Draft: 2010
Pick: 1st overall
College: Kentucky

In five years in the NBA with the Washington Wizards, John Wall has finally emerged as a top five point guard in the the league. Though not once breaking 20 points per game for his career, Wall has brought all the intangibles of a great point guard to the NBA. Wall has averaged 17.6 points/ 8.7 assists/ 4.4 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game in his career which has included two All-Star appearances.

Wall’s greatest achievement so far is being able to resurge the Wizards from the mediocre team that they were into now an absolute playoff threat in the Eastern Conference. Not single handily, but with a lot less than the likes of Lillard, Irving and Curry have had. The past two years, Wall has emerged as Washington’s leader; leading the Wizards to consecutive playoff appearances and the Eastern Conference Semifinals both years.

Both years, Wall and the Wizards dominated their first round opponents; then faced the number one overall seed in the conference semifinals. Both years the Wizards started off strong and took series leads at some point. Though they lost 4-2 both years, Washington has shown themselves as a legitimate threat; Wall has shown what he’s really made of.

Wall averaged a career best 10 assists per game last season, second behind Chris Paul’s 10.2, and was also named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team. Next year is a big one for Washington, as they look to fully get over the hump. Wall could very well be an MVP candidate if he starts going off like he’s fully capable of.
