12. Kemba Walker
Draft: 2011
Pick: Ninth overall
College: Connecticut

After being the hero that led UCONN to a national championship in 2011, Kemba Walker has had an impressive run in the NBA to begin his career. Really, after that heartless, cold blooded step-back buzzer beating jump shot to beat Pittsburgh in the Big East Tournament, Walker has made a name for himself.

Since after his rookie season with Charlotte, Kemba has been the Bobcats/Hornets full time starting point guard; playing well since taking over that role in his second season. Averaging 17.5 points per game in three seasons as Charlotte’s starting point guard, Walker has shown that he can handle himself in this league.

The problem is, Walker’s shooting percentages are not that good at all; with only one season shooting at least 40% from the field and a career shooting average 39.5% on field goals and 31.8% from three. Kemba also had injury issues last year, having surgery on a lateral meniscus in his left knee that cause him to miss 20 games.

Last season Walker did show great growth in his game, even in a disappointing season for his Hornets’ team. There was a stretch in January where Walker put up three consecutive games of 30+ points scored, becoming the fourth player in Charotte’s history to accomplish that. During that span, Kemba also won Eastern Conference Player of the Week, putting up a four game stretch of 30.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists, shooting .500 from the field (44-88), .364 from beyond the three-point line (8-22) and .893 from the free-throw line (25-28).
